- This page implements a GPU based iterative solution to Ambartsumian's non-linear integral equation for subsurface BRDF of a semi-infinite layer. The implementation incorporates acceleration schemes proposed in Bidirectional reflectance of flat, optically thick particulate layers: An efficient radiative transfer solution and applications to snow and soil surfaces by Mishchenko, M.I., J.M. Dlugach, E.G. Yanovitskij, and N.T. Zakharova. A Fortran solver developed by Michael I. Mishchenko and Nadia T. Zakharova is available from http://www.giss.nasa.gov/staff/mmishchenko/brf/.
