overview

The Maya-PBRT project provides users of the PBRT renderer an easy method for designing and developing scenes in Alias's Maya. The project gives the opportunity for researchers to produce complicated scenes without writing intricate input files. At the same time, the project provides artists a rendering utility for physically-based rendering.

Finally, Maya-PBRT will run on both Windows and Mac. I have not had the chance to update the OS X version, but the new Windows version will run on Maya 7. Thanks to Christian Eisenacher, the plug-in has been updated for Maya 8 on Windows. Also, a binary version of the plugin is available for Windows and installation is just as simple as adding the plugin via the Windows->Settings/Preferences->Plug-in Manager window. All the MEL scripting is included inside the plugin, just make sure your PBRT_SEARCHPATH is properly set in Windows and the Tga PBRT-plugin is compiled and working with PBRT.
